Jon + Kate – Hudson Valley Wedding, Shadow Lawn, High Falls, NY
I found myself in Brooklyn last night, eating dinner at the restaurant Jon and Kate opened the same week of their wedding last year. How you plan an event like this and open a new business within 7 days of each other, I have no idea. I think the secret lies in great friends and family… and maybe a private jet?
Shadow Lawn is one of those wedding venues that you think Martha herself dreamed up. Combine this with the October air and a room full of creatives, and you’ve got yourself one hell of a party.
Karl & Nicole, The Roxbury Barn Wedding, Roxbury New York
Karl and Nicole had a wedding day that’s gonna stick with me for a while. Forget the rain. Forget the fact that I had to run up and down the quarter mile hill on the property no less than ten times, and forget the fact that there were spiders in my camera bag.
Even though I feel like best friends with everyone on their wedding day, there’s always a few things you find out for the first time. On this particular day, I learned how unbelievably perfect these two people fit together. The morning that day was hectic, as usual, and the rain clouds were rolling in. The reception had to be moved inside, and I saw Nicole’s smile start to fade as she waited for her groom. The minute they saw each other, all of the nerves fell aside and I saw the happiest bride in the world.
I saw two best friends.
Aubree + Trevor . New York City, Meatpacking District Engagement Shoot . January 30, 2015
I met Aubree a few years ago at a children’s charity event. She was the woman running around with the headset and clipboard, a huge smile on her face, pretending it wasn’t 96 degrees outside that day. And she was so good at her job, I almost believed her.
As fate would have it, I got an email earlier this year from her asking about pictures and letting me know she was engaged! I met up with these two lovebirds in late October, and we made our way up and down the city taking pictures in the blustery, windy streets. Aubree and Trevor, you two are so classically New York, I sincerely felt like I was shooting a couple of celebrities 🙂
